Dear Vocal Parents,
 
We are looking forward to an exciting year with the DSOA Vocal Department. There are many scheduled concerts and events for the 2022-23 season. As in the past, our parent volunteers will continue to provide support for the students. We provide concert programs, pre-concert refreshments, ticket sales, socials, end-of-year events, senior recognitions, and subsidies for field trips. In addition, we purchase music, provide for piano tuning, help supplement private coaching for all vocal students, and more. Much of the funding for this will come from the support of our vocal families.
 
Although our children attend a public school, the nature of our school’s art programs incur extra costs and fees that are not covered by the school’s budget. As you have heard, all of our schools are facing severe budget cuts and many items required for a general music education are no longer included. Many of the art areas require their students to pay an extra mandatory fee for supplies.
 
In the vocal program, we do not feel that we want to make any fees mandatory but we are requesting that each family show their support for the Vocal Department with a fair share donation of $100 per student to cover the many expenses of the vocal program. (Sponsorships to the music department were due earlier this summer and we appreciate those families who chose to show support in that way).
 
We understand this $100 fair share is a significant amount for some families. If you cannot contribute this amount, please consider an amount that you feel more comfortable donating. If you are able to donate more, please pay it forward for someone who can't.
 
This is a voluntary donation and does not affect your student’s participation in any event.
